Web Accessibility Initiative Magazine launched

Years ago, I was very interested to the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) and started working on the development of solutions and techniques to guaranty accessibility of web applications. I have noticed many software and solutions available too, free and commercial, but the most important is to provide accessible web application for people with disabilities.

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) is already at its version 1.0 with 14 guidelines that are general principles of accessible design. The version 2.0 is still under development, planned to be completed on 2006, and will be applied to different Web technologies, be easier to use and understand, and be more precisely testable, as documented in Requirements for WCAG 2.0.

The WAI also have some documents for Specific Technologies which is very interesting for example the XML Accessibility Guidelines, Accessibility Features of CSS, Accessibility Features of SMIL, Accessibility Features of SVG, and the HTML 4.0 Accessibility Improvements. Even that these documents still draft or a little old, but they comes with very useful informations for different technology and accessibility related.

We'll try to talk also about evaluating the accessibility and the different tools and software available, also the techniques and the procedures for that. The different levels of accessibility A,AA and AAA. And certainly many topics related to web accessibility in general.
